Very impressed - highly recommended Pros: there is a lift, YMCA hostel is near Myer Park and Karangahape Road (K Road), lots of good and cheap food options around K Road. 10 mins walk to central Auckland CBD. Stayed in a 6 Bed Female Dorm, room spacious and clean, bonus fridge in the room. Good WIFI, wonderful staff. Bathrooms and toilets are amazingly spotless. Nearest Skybus lounge is like 650 metres away. Cons: uphill walk if you took Greys Ave, Vincent Street is a better option for heavy luggage. Kitchen and dining rooms are a bit small but modern.

No matter what your age this is a great place to base yourself. Quality sheets and bedding very clean room amazing value for money. I had a single room with en-suite, warm and comfortable. Fantastic staff, looked around the hostel area and kitchen, amazing even a herb garden outside the sparkling kitchen. Also a very secure place to stay easy walking distance to city centre few shops cafes across the road, very close to bus depot. I have no hesitation in recommending City Lodge and will always make this my base when in Auckland. Thank you.

Nice clean building with awesome hangout zone in the basement. Awesome staff that allowed us to hang out in basement, most of the day after checking out as we had a late flight. Friendly staff, all around great place to stay. This is my 3rd time and I will always choose this place when in Auckland. Great location as well

5star! Tidy ~ clean ~ friendly Would like to take this time too thank the staff at city lodge for such a warmth stay and great vibes, very clean/tidy establishment. Great self contained kitchen facilities which make cooking your favourite dish a breeze! I would like to give a massive thanks to the crew behind the desk who make the real magic work happen ~ Danushka ~ Brandon & Nishank. You 3 lads have been amazing and should be recognized for your work!! Greetings to all the members of YMCA. I, Manoj A. have been occupying room 408 in YMCA. I will be moving out after spending good quality time in YMCA on 30 June, I would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone in YMCA for making my stay a memorable one. This has been my first stay away from my home for such a long duration and I had booked a place in YMCA from 11 March. I was expected to stay for just about a month. With an unexpected lockdown, conditions changed, with lots of pessimistic atmosphere building up in Auckland But to my surprise the situation in YMCA was handled very well. Firstly, the management acted swiftly for the safety of the occupants by enforcing all necessary restrictions directed by the Government Even though sometimes it may have upset the occupants, later realised it was for the benefit of all. To my surprise the atmosphere in YMCA was transformed to one friendly and family unit. The bonding, sharing, caring and gaming made the enriched atmosphere even more lively spreading happiness. Entire YMCA was hustling-bustling with people from different cultures, different aromas from the kitchens, the whole lobby with high energy activities like pin-pong, snooker, chess, cards and a lots of exchange of thoughts, ideas, concerns and high sense of humour. Anybody would have been lucky to stay at YMCA during the lockdown. I am sure the entire lockdown scenario in YMCA was completely different than that of entire Auckland. In handling all this I highly appreciate the entire team of YMCA right from the warm and friendly reception to the house cleaning. Maintaining high standards and continuously being there for us during the lockdown when everybody was indoors is highly commendable. The entire team has made my stay a mini Life-journey remembrance. If possible, I would thank each and everyone personally. I would love to point out at each one's trivial role and effort in keeping up the reputation of YMCA has been noticed. A true mix culture and warmth in YMCA can be experienced no where else and has given me a family feel. I Am happy to leave YMCA with such wonderful memories and hope to stay connected with the team whilst in Auckland. With the truest of feeling. “Great hostel ” I have stayed at a few YMCA's across the world and I'm always super impressed. Auckland City was amazing, great facilities, spacious and the staff were extremely helpful. Hostels are notorious for being dirty, but the YMCA do an exceptional job with keeping the place clean (I even noticed cleaners cleaning the walls of a room! Which is a welcomed sight) most importantly I felt safe. They have a very good luggage system, you are given a personal number tag for your luggage with a matching tag to hand in when you're ready to retrieve your luggage. It just felt so much safer. They even have a booking office for tours and trips! So you don't even have to leave the hostel to book your next adventure. Very happy with my stay and I'll certainly be back.

So far the best choice to stay in Auckland So far the best hostel experience in New Zealand. Clean, spacious, no obnoxious drunkard clientele, decent WiFi, AC plug directly at the bed, even a small fridge is installed in the room. Combine all of this with decent room rates and you get how a hostel in the 21st century should look like.

Amazing! Will come back again Honestly, so much better than what I expected! Stayed in the double bed room with a private shower and toilet. It was clean, comfy and cosy all for a very good price! Well worth, I will be coming back

Excelente backpacker Hicimos todo el viaje a Nueva Zelanda alojandonos en backpackers y éste, sin duda, fue el mejor. Habitación amplia, una cocina super cómoda y lavandería en el mismo hostel. El espacio común era muy amplio. Nos tocó una habitaciónen el piso octavo con una hermosa vista. El alojamiento destacó por su limpieza, por la calidad de sus blancos y de los productos de cortesía que renovaban diariamente y por su tranquilidad. Está ubicado a 5 cuadras de la calle queen, a tres cuadras y media de la parada del ómnibus al aeropuerto y al frente hay un maxi kiosko bastante bien puesto. De todos modos, en un radio de 5- 6 cuadras hay supermercados y casas de comida para llevar. La única advertencia: las cuadras hacia el centro son en bajada, por lo que la vuelta es un poquitín cuesta arriba. Si tienes algún problema de movilidad debes considerarlo. Si no, es tu lugar en el mundo.

Excellent hostel, clean and friendly. Rooms are quite small but they contain everything you need, including fridge and a kettle. WiFi available but tends to drop out in the bedrooms (eg if listening to radio). Good beds.

I was frankly surprised that a hostel could be this good. It was very clean and fresh. It was better than most 3 star hotels I've been to in Europe.

Excellent Value for money in the CBD!!! Is a very nice place to stay, 5-10 min walk from Sky tower, near Restaurants, bar, convenience store, etc.. The staff is very friendly, specially Mr. Danushka who treat us as a VIP from the first day. The room is very clean and the kitchen as well, HSK team is doing very good job. I will recommend and come back again for sure!!

I really enjoyed my stay here. Rooms were cute and were made more comfortable with their own ensuite and fridge. The location is perfect for bars and restaurants on K road, and you can easily catch the SkyBus from a short distance away. Further points of interest down Queen Street are only a walk away.

Excellent value for money There are so many great things about this place. Top marks for location in central city, friendly and helpful staff, fantastic value for money at the price, rooms are clean and have ensuite bathroom, lovely communal kitchen and recreation area.

A great welcome to a new city Deepak in the lobby offered an incredibly kind and welcoming service to me and my partner offering plenty of handy advice and offering to help in any way he could. Small room but very comfortable, shower and bathroom very clean. Would recommend a great budget option.

Good budget accommodation I chose this place as needed my own space after several weeks in dorm rooms. Check in was very quick and easy and the room was clean and spacious. Has all the facilities I like in a hostel with the bonus of affordable private rooms. Staff also booked my airport taxi which was waaay cheaper than I had expected. The location is great easy to get to everywhere and far enough away for a decent nights sleep.

Excellent short stay Touring both north and south islands this was our first accommodation to rest from our flights from the UK. The room was on the smallish side (a double ) but adequate. The communal kitchen was spotless and had all you needed to prepare your meals. The staff were excellent kind and very helpful. We recommend a perfect stop for a short stay.

Brilliant This was exactly as the description said and more. Staff were extremely helpful and very friendly, my room & the parts I went to were very clean. Bed was great. Well within my budget & so central. Perfect thank you I have no hesitation in recommending.

Great venue Clean and tidy venue. Even though website states that it’s a 2pm check in. I arrived at 10 and was able to get to my room Single room was clean and tidy and for the price you cannot complain. Staff are very helpful Would stay here again
